Thanks again Alain, for the information. It sounds like you've done some rather extensive tests regarding the performance of HT. If I run across more information on this, I'll be sure to post it here as well.
Cheers,
Ngeah

Re: Make Multi and Hyper Threading
Thank you both for your hasty replies. I am currently running a few jobs right now, so I won't be able to try until later tonight. HT is only for decoration; looks cute for a "top" but no efficient hardware behind. I had suspicions of this as well, but had little info to back it. Can you e...

Make Multi and Hyper Threading
Hello everyone, I am running on an Intel I7 930, which has 4 physical cores which have Hyper Threading, so each physical core has 2 virtual cores (8 virtual cores total). I have successfully installed ABINIT on my system, and everything seems to be working fine, but I used the "make" comma...

Re: about pseudopotentials in .files file
I'm no expert with ABINIT myself, but I believe this is how it works. If you look at the tutorial file: t1x.in, you should see this: ../t11.in t1x.out t1xi t1xo t1x ../../../Psps_for_tests/01h.pspgth The part that says "../../../Psps_for_tests/01h.pspgth" states the location pseudopotentia...

Re: spinat
Thank you, Robin for your response. And for AFM calculations, I'm guessing it's safe to assume that I don't have to worry about the sign changing while it evolves. Is this right? Thanks agian.

Re: Tutorial ex. 3.1 takes forever. Wrong configuration?
Hello, I too have the same problem from tutorial example 3.1 onwards, the execution of abinit hangs. My system is suse linux 32bit installed in X86_64 intel core2 duo machines. I have tried different configure option ranging from I had the same problem as well here at my school. Since I'm the only ...

spinat
Hello everyone, I am a new student in QM, DFT, and the like, and I'm essentially teaching myself as I go along, so I'd like to pre-emptively apologize for my incompetence. I was trying to run some spin-polarized calculations. I'm a little confused with how to determine the values for spinat. I know ...
