Abinit 7.2.1 with intel 13.1.1 compiler

Post by Fisker » Fri May 03, 2013 11:39 am

I'm trying to compile the latest abinit with the intel 13.1.1 compiler (our servers have been upgraded), but I'm having some problems.

My config seems to work using a build.ac that looks like this:

Code: Select all

enable_gw_dpc="yes"
enable_mpi="yes"
enable_mpi_io="yes"
with_mpi_prefix="/pack/openmpi-1.6.4-intel"
with_dft_flavor="none"
with_trio_flavor="none"
fcflags_opt_66_wfs="-O1 -xHost -g -extend-source -vec-report0 -noaltparam -nofpscomp"
with_fft_flavor="fftw3"
with_fft_libs="-L/pack/intel-PSXE2013/mkl/lib/intel64 -Wl,--start-group -lmkl_intel_lp64 -lmkl_sequential -lmkl_core -Wl,--end-group"
with_linalg_flavor="mkl"
with_linalg_libs="-L/pack/intel-PSXE2013/mkl/lib/intel64 -Wl,--start-group -lmkl_intel_lp64 -lmkl_sequential -lmkl_core -Wl,--end-group"

But my make fails with the outputs:

Code: Select all

make[2]: Entering directory `/user/fisker/abinit/abinit-7.2.1/build2/fallbacks'
 cd ../../fallbacks && /bin/sh /user/fisker/abinit/abinit-7.2.1/fallbacks/config/gnu/missing --run automake-1.11 --gnu
make[2]: Leaving directory `/user/fisker/abinit/abinit-7.2.1/build2/fallbacks'

I have attached my config.log. Can anyone help me solve this, or just guide me in the right direction?

Sincerely, and thank you in advance,
Christian Fisker

Hi Christian,

very strange that there is some xrong with fallbacks...

without DFT an d TRIO, and using mkl, nothing must be build under fallbacks

what is the output of the configure ?

I have the same kind of ac file but with DFT and TRIO, an d everything is working

Hi again,

I run my configure and make commands through a slurm script on our cluster. The screen output (dumped to a file) from the command

Code: Select all

../configure --with-config-file=./build_intel13.ac > config-slurm.log
looks like this:

 === Final remarks                                                          ===

        +--------------------------------------------------------------+
        | About the Intel Fortran compiler                             |
        +--------------------------------------------------------------+
        | Your compiler will work properly only if the LD_LIBRARY_PATH |
        | and INTEL_LICENSE_FILE environment variables are correctly   |
        | set-up. Please make sure that this is the case before        |
        | building ABINIT.                                             |
        |                                                              |
        | In most cases it means sourcing a script in the Intel        |
        | compiler install directory, e.g.:                            |
        |                                                              |
        | . /opt/intel/fc/9.1/bin/ifortvars.sh                         |
        |                                                              |
        | for a Bourne-like shell (do not forget the leading dot), or  |
        |                                                              |
        | source /opt/intel/fc/9.1/bin/ifortvars.csh                   |
        |                                                              |
        | for a C-like shell.                                          |
        |                                                              |
        | If you do not know what this is all about, please refer to   |
        | the Intel documentation or ask your system administrator.    |
        |                                                              |
        | Please note that the same holds for the Intel C and C++      |
        | compilers.                                                   |
        +--------------------------------------------------------------+

Summary of important options:

  * C compiler      : intel version 13.1
  * Fortran compiler: intel version 13.1
  * architecture    : intel xeon (64 bits)

  * debugging       : basic
  * optimizations   : standard

  * OpenMP enabled  : no (collapse: ignored)
  * MPI    enabled  : yes
  * MPI-IO enabled  : yes
  * GPU    enabled  : no (none)

  * TRIO   flavor = none
  * TIMER  flavor = abinit (libs: ignored)
  * LINALG flavor = mkl (libs: user-defined)
  * ALGO   flavor = none (libs: ignored)
  * FFT    flavor = fftw3 (libs: user-defined)
  * MATH   flavor = none (libs: ignored)
  * DFT    flavor =

Configuration complete.
You may now type "make" to build ABINIT.
(or, on a SMP machine, "make mj4", or "make multi multi_nprocs=<n>")

It goes through the full configuration, and I don't really know what I should be looking for to find the error.

Sincerely,
Christian

Re: Abinit 7.2.1 with intel 13.1.1 compiler

Post by Fisker » Wed May 08, 2013 3:55 pm

So, I went back to Abinit 7.0.4 and it seems to compile correctly with the above build.ac file. But what goes wrong in 7.2.1 I don't know.

/Christian
