dear when i try to install fortran compiler then i got the following msg.
Unresolved dependencies:
Installing gcc4.2-gfortran-4.2.3-6mnb2.i586[Local packages]
There are no installable providers of gcc4.2 == 4.2.3-6mnb2 for gcc4.2-gfortran-4.2.3-6mnb2.i586[Local packages]
could you please help me how to resolve this problem

They should all install on SUSE 10.1. I have installed it on 4 different machines running 10.1. However, there is a caveat. You need to not use the gnu compiler suite that comes with it. You absolutely must upgrade the gcc and gfortran. Also, on one of the machines, I ran into a finicky problem about the condefs.h ac_nonexistent.h: no such file or directory. I don't remember what the solution for that was, but if you run into it send me a message and I"ll find it. Otherwise, I know I've run every production version since 5.6 on a 10.1 Suse machine, so they should be able to be configured for you.
