Location - Practical information

The 2022 edition of the ABINIT Developer workshop should take place at Belambra Club "Les Portes de L'Océan" in Guidel-Plages, near the city of Lorient, in the west of France.

The port city of Lorient is located in the Brittany region, amid green valleys at the mouth of the Blavet and Scorff rivers, in Morbihan. The city also hosts an internationally renowned Celtic music festival: the Interceltique festival, which organises its big parade of Celtic nations every August.

On Wednesday afternoon, we will go on an excursion to the town of Concarneau. This will be an opportunity to visit the famous "Ville close" and its fortified walls.

To get to Guidel-Plages you first have to reach Lorient.

• You can take the TGV train from Paris Gare Montparnasse (a 3 hour journey). For this, you can use the SNCF website.
• There is a small airport in Lorient. You can only reach it from Toulouse International Airport (one flight per day).

From Lorient station,

• You can take the bus line 10. You have to get off at "Le Vallon" stop.
  It's a 35' ride and costs around 2€. See the timetable.
• You can take a taxi (17km).

From Lorient airport,

• Take a taxi (12km).

You can also reach Guidel-Plages from Quimperlé station (next TGV train station) (12km). But it's not necessarily better than from Lorient.

Important for the way back: a shuttle (bus) to the Lorient TGV station will leave the workshop location at 3pm on Thursday May, 19.
This should be OK for the 15:59 train at Lorient station.
